On November 5, 2021, Ernie and I received a new mission call from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We were both hopeful that this call would be the special one that Ernie has known about since he was twelve years old. At that time, Ernie received his patriarchal blessing under the hands of Patriarch V. Hanks. He was told that he would have the opportunity to serve his fellowman and also cross the mighty ocean and serve in the lands of his forefathers. Ernie has now served two missions with his fellowmen, but has yet to cross the mighty ocean.
That night, both in person with local family and on zoom, Ernie opened the call. As he read "you have been called to serve as a missionary", I felt so thrilled. When we served our first mission together, serving 18-months in New York State, it was such an amazing experience. To have another missionary experience is a dream come true. As he kept reading his mission call, I wondered when he would read where we where going to be assigned.
Near the end of the letter, the assignment was announced. "You will labor in the Scotland/Ireland mission for 12 months". I thought my heart was going to leap out of my body. Scotland and Ireland are exactly where his forefathers lived. What a blessing! His patriarchal blessing has finally been fulfilled, and we couldn't be happier. We will enter the Provo MTC on May 2, 2022 and after our visas arrive, then on to the British Isles. This will be a choice mission, filled with opportunities of a life-time.
